The Man ‘Asiwaju Solomon Kayode Onafowokan’ whose name opens opportunities, a power connector in best sense of the world, a man of integrity and honour.

Asiwaju Solomon Kayode Onafowokan, OON, was born into families of ONAFOWOKAN and OGUNFUWA of Makun-Odugboro and OGUNEKO and Gbesemo Ruling House of Ijagba/Ado in Sagamu Remo of Ogun State. Within short space of time, Asiwaju Onafowokan has shown that he is endowed with Wisdom, Versatility, Sagacity and Statemanship. An Indisputable mentor to young and old.

Asiwaju Onafowokan was educated at home and abroad culminating in a post graduate degree in Business Management in United Kingdom. He also obtained another post graduate degree in English Language from the School of Accountancy, Glasgow Scotland in 1967.

He had the utmost respect of His people and caring attitude is legendary, his sharp mind and eye for detail was equally outstanding and every interaction with him proved this.

A self made man well travelled personalty with extraordinary vision and commitment.

Asiwaju got elected as a council member of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 1977, where he contributed immensely towards laying a very solid foundation for what is today the foremost chamber in the country and continent’s unarguably nerve centre of economic and commercial activities.

His passion to serve his fatherland was never in doubt, hence it was not surprising for him to serve as member of Governing Council of Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA) from 1982 to year 2000.

A financial guru and board room administrator per excellence, who would never shy away from letting people know that he is a thorough bred Remo Man of Ogun State.

A distinguished industrialist and manager who scored many first in breaking the glass ceiling in both private and public services.

He is a member of Apapa Manufacturer Association. He was a member of Nigeria Economic Summit Group from 1996 to 2000. President and Chairman of Council, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry 2006 to 2008. Member British Institute of Management, Member Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.

A visionary Personality, Asiwaju Onafowokan is the Chairman and Founder of Coleman Wires and Cables, a foremost cable and wire manufacturing plant in West Africa Chairman of Chellarams Plc., Chairman of ARTEE Industries owners of SPAR/PARK ‘N’ SHOP DEPT. STORE, Chairman of National Association of Supermarket Operators and Chairman of GS1, Nigeria amongst several others.

A Methodist since birth and his commitment to inter-religious harmony of all faith is note worthy and has contributed in several measures to the propagation & development of other denominations, Islamic faith and indigenous religious. He had embarked on pilgrimages to Jerusalem three times, 1987, 1988 and 1989.

Asiwaju Onafowokan has received recognitions honours and awards from various Organizations both locally and aboard too numerous to mention over the years, and they include inter alia: - Fellow British and Nigeria Institute of Directors Fellow Faculty of Science Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago-Iwoye, Fellow of Chartered Institute of Transport and National Vice President of NACCIMA.

A recipient of many Traditional Chieftaincy titles and capped it all in December 1997, when he graciously stepped into the shoes left behind by the legendary Nationalist Chief Obafemi Awolowo, by being conferred with the title of Asiwaju of Remo Kingdom by all the 33 Traditional Rulers of Remo under the Chairmanship of Akarigbo of Remo.

He is happily married and the marriage is blessed with wonderful and successful children.
